Mujeres - Soft Gems

Mujeres is a garage rock band that hails from Barcelona, and they do their thing just as well as any American bands.  They have enough reverb and fuzz to fry your brain, but they still write melodies and songs that your parents would enjoy.  This is by far one of my favorite releases of the year!  Do yourself a favor and check it out, it'll be the perfect soundtrack for your next drunken dance party.  (You can also order a gold version of their LP through their bandcamp.)

Zola Jesus

I don't always listen to female-lead gothic/industrial bands, but when I do it's usually Zola Jesus.  And it's probably the Stridulum EP.  Check it out!  Sacred Bones

FIDLAR

It may be your Monday, and you're probably just starting another work week.  However, I just got off work and will be off for the next three days, so I'm starting it right with some FIDLAR.  They're a band from LA and they play beachy, beer soaked punk.  What else?  One of the members in FIDLAR has a father that played in TSOL, go figure.

Grab their earlier releases off of their Bandcamp & they're also releasing their debut album via Mom + Pop, the first single is titled "Cheap Beer" so you know it's going to be good!  Listen to their DIYDUI EP below.  Fuck It Dog Life's A Risk.

Acid Baby Jesus - Hospitals EP

I don't think I will ever get sick of fuzzed out, reverb drenched garage rock. The first song on this short EP is a hell of a stomper to get your depraved Sunday morning started right! (bonus points for recognizing the face on the cover.)

Check out more releases from these Athens rockers, and others on their labels bandcamp.

Ride - Nowhere

Ride was a UK band that helped to influence the beginnings of the Shoegaze genre.  This album came out in 1990 and I have a feeling it was overlooked here in the states.  I'm definitely bummed out it took me so long to finally listen to this.  Think if the Beatles didn't drop so much acid, but drank as much as The Replacemnts and were able to handle themselves better.  This album is loud and it's meant to be played loud!

Wild Moth

Wild Moth are from San Francisco.  They play quick post-punk songs and their singer sounds like the guy from The Ponys, without the sense of humor. This is their latest offering, a nice little EP which you can grab from their bandcamp for whatever price you name.

Merchandise

My intentions for this blog are to post about things that interest me, most of which will probably be music.  So there.

I really like Merchandise and this should come as no surprise to friends.  Their album "Children of Desire" came out this year and it's phenomenal from start to finish.  Highly recommended!
